Kyrella was born in a cothold in Telgar country. Her parents are loyal cotholders, tithing regularly, even if it meant going hungry themselves once or twice. Her older brother is Sl'nor, blue Relth's (NPC) rider at Telgar. When Kyrella was 15, Sl'nor told her about an opening at the Weyr for an assistant headwoman. He gave her a ride to the Weyr, and she applied for the position. Sharvona let her have the job, and Kyrella received her first knot. Kyrella also received her first look at a Weyr, and she didn't like what she saw. She had a bad reaction to the Weyr's more open morals and nearly left, because it upset her so much.
Kyrella's life changed the first time when she found out that she sincerely liked Sh'van, bronze Larseth's rider, despite her initial reaction to his attitude. Ignoring her mom's long-ingrained warnings about bronzeriders, she joyfully accepted his offer to weyrmate. Shortly thereafter, she was made 'den-mother' to the incoming candidates for Demethieth's clutch, and she did her best to keep the Weyr and the candidates busy. Two days before the hatching, she was helping to herd candidates onto the sands, and Demi told Caitra to tell Ky to touch an egg. After the much-shaken Kyrella touched an egg quickly, Caitra told her that Demi wanted her to stand as a candidate. Kyrella didn't want to say no, but she didn't want to say yes, either, because there was just so much to do, and she had a responsibility to the Weyr. She got everyone present to promise not to tell anyone, and spent the last few days before the hatching thinking about the decision.
Come hatching day, Ky was run ragged making sure all the preparations were completed, so nothing would be left undone. When the dragons began humming, she herded the candidates up into the barracks, where Caitra asked her in front of the rest of the candidates if she was going to stand or not. Numbly, Ky took the proffered robe and got into it, heading last onto the sands. Rather bewildered by this new experience, she watched as the candidates to her left and right were chosen... J'sen to green Damarath, and Amiana to blue Conith. She watched the gold hatchling pass her and Amiana, and believed that she wouldn't impress, until a brown and green egg hatched, the last hatchling of the clutch. A beautiful brown hatched from the egg, and he stumbled his way across the sands, kicking up sand on his way. As Ky leaned over to wipe sand stuck to her sweaty legs, the brown came over to her and twisted his head upside down the peer up at her. Ky looked down and grumbled at the brown's antics, and then nearly fell over when she heard, << I'm Zaleth, I'm yours, and I'm *hungry*!! >>
After a tumultuous weyrlinghood and the severing of her relationship with Sh'van, K'rella and Zaleth have become two of the core members of the Weyr. Ky's organizing ability got her the spot of DawnFlight Wingsecond under her former lover. As Sh'van was Weyrleader, this automatically granted K'rella the Weyrsecond position. With Sh'van's recent disappearances, K'rella has gotten a crash course in Weyrleadership, currently holding the Acting Weyrleader position until the Sharvona's queen rises again.
